Williamsburg Neighborhood Information
Williamsburg is easy to miss when you’re cruising along M-72. Most people never even venture off onto Old M-72 to visit the post office, though that is what many associate Williamsburg with today. Like me, they probably weren’t aware of the long history of the area. Prehistoric evidence of spearheads and flint scrapers was found here dating the earliest inhabitants back to 10,500 B.C. In the not so distant past of the last century, Williamsburg was a bustling farm town with a high school baseball team willing to give anyone a run for their money. While students here are now part of the Traverse City Area Schools, in ‘Hi’ Pray Park, named for a former Postmaster, there are still a couple of baseball fields ready to play host to an afternoon game.

You can find me in Williamsburg during the annual Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival held at the Flintfields Horse Park. A month long event that is as much fun to participate in as it is to watch. Others will find themselves headed to the area to enjoy a little gaming at the Turtle Creek Casino. Always a good time whether you like to hit the slots or enjoy a table game or two. Hoxie’s Farm Market, yet another great asset to the area, is a family run fruit stand that I find is a great place to pick up cherries in the summer or a giant pumpkin for my Halloween Jack-o-Lantern.
