Acme is found on the shores of the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay right at the junction of US-31 and M-72. While I’ve never found proof that this is the same Acme from which Wile E Coyote purchased so many ingenious Roadrunner catching devises, it does have its share of attractions. This Acme is home to the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa which boasts not only an Arnold Palmer designed golf course, The Bear, but tennis courts, indoor & outdoor pools, convention facilities, restaurants and its own private beach on the Bay. During the Holiday Season I like to make a point of turning down the main drive to take in the light show the Resort puts up.

Another fun Acme feature is the Music House Museum just north of town. Located in a series of renovated farm buildings, you will be surprised by the ornate player pianos, pipe organs and more they’ve got hidden inside. For a bit of outdoor fun, explore the Vasa trails. These trails are used each winter during the cross-country ski Vasa Race event. Summertime finds off road bikers and hikers enjoying the trails. A part of the Traverse City School System, Acme is a great place to live and as I live just northeast of town, I should know.
